Dr. Kristin Lyerly concedes to Tony Wied in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District race

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – After Republican Tony Wied was declared the victor by the Associated Press in the 8th District Election of Wisconsin, Dr. Kristin Lyerly’s campaign announced that she has conceded.

“I’m incredibly proud of the race we ran, the conversations we had, and the team we built,” Dr. Lyerly said. “Despite falling short, we gave northeast Wisconsinites a solid choice, and we created a strong foundation for years to come.

According to the release, Dr. Lyerly is the best-performing Democrat in this district over the past decade. Dr. Lyerly wished Wied well in her statement.

I congratulate Tony Wied on his victory tonight, and wish him the best in delivering for northeast Wisconsinites.

Dr. Lyerly’s campaign statement says she will continue to provide OB-GYN care for rural and underserved communities, while also working on advocacy with healthcare organizations.

Tony Wied will be sworn into office on Friday, January 3, 2025.
