Wisconsin woman dies after early morning single-vehicle crash

WINFIELD, Wis. (WFRV) – A 49-year-old woman died early Wednesday morning after failing to make a turn, crashing into multiple trees off-road.

According to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of a single-vehicle crash near CTH K at Gavin Road in Winfield around 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and personnel from the Reedsburg Fire Department and Ambulance Service were sent to the scene. Initial investigations indicated that an SUV traveling north on CTH K failed to negotiate a corner and crashed into multiple trees off-road.

The driver and sole occupant was identified as a 49-year-old woman from Reedsburg, who died at the scene.

The crash is still being investigated. No more details were provided.
