(WFRV) – A 30-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested on Thursday morning as the result of an investigation into a June 2024 drug overdose death in Hartford, Wisconsin.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, investigators made multiple arrests in connection with the fatal overdose. The investigation started back in June 2024 in Hartford.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Jurisdictional Drug unit opened its investigation into the source of the drugs, identifying the suspect as a 30-year-old from Milwaukee.
Investigators worked together with the Washington County District Attorney’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation Overdose Death Initiative and the Wisconsin Counterdrug Program over several months.
Three search warrants were executed on Thursday morning as the culmination of the investigation, with tactical teams in Milwaukee and another in Grafton, Wisconsin.
The 30-year-old man is the main target of the investigation and is in custody in Ozaukee County for unrelated charges. The man faces formal charges for the overdose death in Washington County later on Friday.
The charges are as follows:
- Felony reckless homicide
- Conspiracy to deliver fentanyl
- Bail jumping (multiple counts)
In 2021, the suspect was released from state prison on extended supervision on first-degree reckless homicide charges, he pled guilty to distributing narcotics regarding a 2019 arrest.
On his parole, he was arrested and charged in Waupaca County on the case for multiple overdoses, including one that was fatal. The man was out on bond with extended supervision when he allegedly sold fentanyl relating to the Hartford death.

Two other Milwaukee men were arrested for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and cocaine. Officials recovered a stolen handgun that had been altered to become fully automatic, as well as illegal drugs. Those charges are being reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
