Appleton Transit Center set to receive major upgrades after $25M in funds secured

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Major upgrades are coming to the Appleton Transit Center following a $25-million investment from the Biden-Harris administration.

On Tuesday, White House Senior Advisor Tom Perez joined Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford to highlight the federal funds secured by U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin to reconstruct the Appleton Transit Center.

The reconstruction will improve safety and accessibility, create jobs, and build more affordable housing options. Additionally, the funds will be used to expand passenger amenities, add ADA features, and transit facilities, as well as transit operations.

The funding comes from the Baldwin-backed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program.

“I fought hard to bring home this funding to rebuild our outdated infrastructure, spur economic growth, and expand affordable housing options for working families,” said Senator Baldwin.

Baldwin continued on to say the new transit center will help ensure that everyone can get where they need to go safely and will make public transportation more convenient.
