Bonduel High School closes its National FFA Week ‘Ag Olympics’ with a cow milking duel

BONDUEL, Wis. (WFRV) – National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Week in 2025 runs from February 15 until February 22, and Bonduel High School invited some special guests for a unique contest to close out a week of competitive and commemorative events.

Those unique guests? Two live cows starring in a ‘Cow Milking Contest’ that put students to the test in the Bonduel High School gym.

Mandi McClone, Bonduel High School’s new agriculture teacher and FFA advisor said they’ve been celebrating the entire week with the ‘Ag Olympics,’ and emphasized the importance of highlighting agriculture in the area.

“We’re in a rural and small community, and we do a great job trying to promote agriculture because it’s so important,” McClone said. “A lot of our students work on farms or come from farming backgrounds, so it’s really cool to be able to highlight those things and shine bright on the importance of agriculture in the world and our small community.”

Students had been competing in varying agricultural competitions all week to celebrate National FFA Week, and this grand finale was a fun way to continue celebrating the farming history of Bonduel.

“It was a lot of fun, this is a first-time thing as our team is fairly young, we’re all juniors or younger,” Bonduel High School FFA President Allison Zernicke said. “This event brought our team together. Our officer team has been working hard with our new agriculture teacher.”

This was the first time since 2016 that Bonduel had live cows in their new gym. Some of the other competitions from the week included hay bale throwing, wheelbarrow races and inflatable horse barrel racing.
