Governor Tony Evers announces new plan to improve water quality in Wisconsin

MARINETTE, Wis. (WFRV) – Governor Tony Evers has shared details about a new plan to make water in Wisconsin safer.

Today, Evers visited Marientte, where he spoke about his plan to combat PFAS. His plan will be part of the 2025-2027 state budget, which will be introduced on February 18, 2025.

The plan aims to fight contamination from harmful chemicals called PFAS, protect children and families from dangerous water pollutants, and ensure that everyone in Wisconsin has access to clean drinking water.

This initiative is part of the Governor’s focus on making 2025 the “Year of the Kid,” with special efforts to protect kids and families from harmful water contaminants.

The new budget will provide funds to tackle PFAS contamination across the state and improve water quality for all residents.

Whether it’s kids in the classroom, families at home, or our farmers and agricultural industries, Wisconsinites’ health and well-being depend on access to clean, safe water. Folks should be able to trust that the water coming from their tap is safe, but we know that’s not the case for far too many families and communities.
