Green Bay food pantry looks for volunteers and a change in leadership

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WRFV) – Hope Center Pantry in Green Bay is looking to bring in more volunteers while also breaking down the role of Pantry Director.

“We’ve been around for three and a half years, and it’s a lot of work to get everything stocked in here and make sure everything is running smoothly,” explained Pantry Director Chris Clemens. “Breaking it down into nine positions makes it a little less stressful on just one couple or one person.

As one of the largest food pantries in Brown Bounty, current Pantry Directors, Janice and Chris Clemens, said the goal is to create nine new director roles to divide the workload.

“We’re breaking it down from having one director or one couple as director running the pantry to nine positions, so we’re having specialized positions,” explained Janice Clemens.

Hope Center Pantry is actively searching for volunteers to:

  • Maintain Client Data
  • Keep the Pantry Stocked
  • Write a Quarterly Newsletter
  • Organize the Pantry
  • Coordinate Volunteer Leaders

Janice and Chris also developed systems, checklists, and databases to streamline operations, which will make the new leaders` roles easier.

“People might be watching this and saying, ‘You know, that sounds like a lot of work, I’m not qualified,’ we weren’t qualified,” said Janice. “We didn’t own our own business or anything like that, but our belief is that ‘God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.'”

As of now, Chris and Janice have filled four of the nine positions. If you are interested in learning more about the positions still available or volunteering, you can contact Hope Center Pantry on Facebook or call 920-437-3356.
