Head-on collision in Manitowoc County leaves one dead, 18-year-old with life-threatening injuries

SCHLESWIG, Wis. (WFRV) – Deputies are investigating a head-on collision in Manitowoc County that left one man dead and an 18-year-old with ‘serious’ life-threatening injuries.

According to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and first responders were called to the area of CTH X and Louis Corners Road in Schleswig for reports of a two-vehicle head-on collision on September 20 around 4:55 a.m.

The preliminary investigation showed that an eastbound vehicle on CTH X collided head-on with a westbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle was driven by an 18-year-old man from Malone and the westbound car was driven by a 72-year-old man from Kiel.

Deputies say the 72-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and the 18-year-old was taken to a local hospital via ThedaStar with ‘serious’ life-threatening injuries.

The release notes that the incident continues to be an active investigation and no additional information is being released at this time.
