TWO RIVERS, Wis. (WFRV) – A 7-year-old boy went missing Saturday evening near Two Rivers’ Veterans Park, according to police. Two Rivers Police are now asking the public to avoid the area as emergency crews continue to search the area.
According to a post from Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing Persons that was shared by Two Rivers Police, Jacob Baer went missing on foot after 4:36 p.m. Saturday evening at Veteran’s Park, located at 1818 School St.
Jacob is described as a white 7-year-old boy with blue eyes, shaggy blond hair, weighing 56 lbs. 3 ft. 5 in. tall and last seen wearing a black jacket with green on the hood, a black and gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and size 13 RealTree camouflage boots.
In another post, police are asking the public to avoid the area to allow emergency crews, K9 units and drones to work without interruption. In addition, the thin ice on the West Twin River that runs next to the park poses a safety risk.
Police say the most helpful way residents can contribute to the search is by checking their property.
“We understand that many of you in the community wish to help,” the statement read. “We appreciate this, but we ask that you stay away from the West Twin River, City Marina and Veterans Park at 1520 17th St. K9 units, drones and emergency personnel are working in these areas. In addition, the ice on the river is very thin and dangerous so we don’t want anyone in those areas as Emergency crews are equipped to deal with these dangers. Helpful things we would ask of the public are checking your property. Especially the area to the east of the 1800 Blk of School St. We will keep you updated of any developments. Thank you.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Two Rivers Police Department at 920-686-7200.
