TWIN LAKES, Wis. (WFRV) – The body of a 70-year-old ice fisherman was recovered from Lake Elizabeth due to a joint effort from Wisconsin and Illinois agencies, according to the Twin Lakes Police Department.
The original incident occurred after a UTV with three men went through open water on Thursday afternoon. According to two of the men on the UTV, the operator didn’t realize the water was open and believed it to be pooled on top of the ice.

Two men made it out of the water safely and were evaluated by Twin Lakes Rescue, but search efforts were paused around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday after several hours, resuming Friday morning.
In the release from around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, the 70-year-old man’s body was recovered, but is not being identified to the public at this time.
The post added that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources advised poeple to stay off the ice in this area as it is not safe.
