FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Fond du Lac say one person is dead following an officer-involved shooting Monday night.
According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, deputies contacted a subject over the phone who was known to have a felony warrant and was believed to have a handgun in their waistband.

Officials say deputies found the subject on the 6300 block of Cherrywood Drive and when the subject refused to follow repeated commands, one of the deputies fired a non-lethal weapon.
At 6:22, the subject then allegedly produced what deputies believed was a handgun leading to a second deputy firing their weapon at the subject.
EMS was immediately contacted and live-saving measures were taken before EMS took the subject to a nearby hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
No one else was hurt in the incident and the involved deputy is on administrative leave per agency policy.
As of now, No additional details are being released as they are being withheld to “protect the integrity of the investigation.” Officials say these details will be made publicly available at a later time.

The DCI is investigating the incident, and a DCI Crime Response Specialist, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Fond du Lac Police Department, and the Village of North Fond du Lac Police Department are also helping.
All involved law enforcement are reportedly cooperating with the investigation and the DCI will turn over all investigative reports to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office following the conclusion of the investigation.
