Police K9 in Wisconsin to receive bullet & stab protective vest courtesy of nationwide non-profit

VIROQUA, Wis. (WFRV) – A police department in Wisconsin expressed gratitude as one of its K9s is set to receive a bullet and stab protective vest courtesy of a non-profit organization.

The Viroqua Police Department posted on Facebook to thank the organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit established in 2009 that dedicates itself to providing protective vests and other types of assistance to law enforcement dogs in the United States.

Viroqua Police Department K9 Loki is the recipient of the stab and bullet protective vest, which is worth about $1,800 and weighs about 4-5 pounds. The vest even comes with a five-year warranty.

K9 Loki’s vest donation was sponsored by Barbara Steinberg of the Steinberg Family Charitable Foundation, which will be embroidered on the vest. Each of the donated vests is made in the United States and custom-fitted.

In the 16 years that Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has been around, the organization has donated nearly 6,000 of them, about $6.9 million vests’ worth to K9s in all 50 states.
