(WFRV) – A new report ranking the safest cities in Wisconsin for 2025 has been released, with one northeast Wisconsin community making the top three.
Hobart-Lawrence ranked third on the list after falling from its No. 1 position in 2024. Despite the drop, the community maintained a low violent crime rate of 0.3 and a property crime rate of 2.9. In comparison, its 2024 rankings were 0.1 for violent crime and 1.4 for property crime.

The top 10 safest cities in Wisconsin for 2025 are:

- Cottage Grove (Dane County)
- Hobart-Lawrence (Brown County)
- Waunakee (Dane County)
- Port Washington (Ozaukee County)
- Sheboygan Falls (Sheboygan County)
- Cedarburg (Ozaukee County)
- Kronenwetter (Marathon County)
- Muskego (Waukesha County)
- Plymouth (Sheboygan County)
According to the report, 50% of Wisconsin’s safest cities saw a decrease in violent crime, while 75% experienced a drop in property crime.

Statewide, 54% of Wisconsin residents say they feel safe, up from 47% in 2024. That confidence level also surpasses the national average of 48%.
Public perception of crime in Wisconsin has shifted positively, with the percentage of residents who believe crime is decreasing jumping from 3% to 25%—the highest increase in the country. The report suggests this optimism may be linked to declining violent crime rates, reduced gun violence, and consistently low property crime numbers.
