Winnebago County voters turn out for spring election, county executive race

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – A steady stream of voters lined up at the Oshkosh Library on Tuesday for the April 1 spring election.

Incumbent Winnebago County Executive Jon Doemel, former owner of ZaRoni’s Pizza, is seeking a second term against challenger Gordon Hintz, a former Democratic state representative.

A nearly $200 million Oshkosh School referendum is also drawing voters, along with state races for Supreme Court and superintendent.

“I believe all of the races are having an impact on voter turnout,” Darlene Brandt told Local 5 News. “A lot of interest. It’s been very steady.”

Brandt anticipates about 1,000 voters at the location, not including absentee or early in-person ballots, which are processed at Oshkosh City Hall.

The most common voter mistake, she said, is failing to provide proof of residency after a recent move if their identification does not match their registered address.
