“Individuals who engage in violent crimes not only endanger the lives and well-being of their victims but also can shatter the confidence of all residents that our cities are safe places in which to live and work,” Acting U.S. Attorney Frohling said via the release.
Poole was part of two armed carjackings in January 2024, with each involving the presence of a firearm. The first occurred on January 29, 2024, around 7:45 p.m., when Poole committed a carjacking in the 2400 block of North Farwell Avenue on the east side of Milwaukee.
The second happened the next day at 5 p.m. when he stole a car in a downtown parking lot near 2nd Street and Plankinton Avenue. Poole led officers on a high-speed pursuit throughout neighborhoods at speeds up to 90 miles per hour. He crashed into a tree, causing life-threatening injuries to passengers.
