Wisconsin meat shop recalls ready-to-eat meat products due to misbranding

ELLSWORTH, Wis. (WFRV) — Pierce County Meats Inc., located in Ellsworth, has issued a voluntary Class II recall for packaged ready-to-eat meat products due to misbranding.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP), the recall involves products carrying the inspection mark for establishment No. 132, purchased or received before Jan. 8. The affected items include:

  • Cheddar Summer Sausage

  • Honey BBQ Snack Sticks
  • Jalapeño and Cheddar Summer Sausage
  • Original Summer Sausage
  • Pepper Snack Sticks
  • Pepperjack Snack Sticks
  • Regular Smoked Country Style Sausage
  • Ring Bologna
  • Smoked Beef and Pork Polish Sausage
  • Snack Sticks
  • Teriyaki Snack Sticks

These products were processed as a service from inspected carcasses or purchased directly from Pierce County Meats Inc. or Big Acres Meats retail store in Prescott.

Two wrong-way drivers arrested for OWI on U.S. Highway 14 in Wisconsin

The recall was initiated after routine inspections found the products contained undeclared wheat, an allergen, and were produced without DATCP-approved formulations. Labels on the products did not indicate the presence of wheat.
